Our Share Offer is Imminent
After three years of work we are finally nearly ready to launch our share offer for the Twemlows solar farm. We are working towards a share offer launch of summer 2023 . We’ll be looking to raise at least £730,000 with a favourable interest rate and we’ll be publicising the Share Offer Document as soon as it’s ready. The share raise will be managed by Ethex along with the four other schemes that were bought up by the CORE trust. The total raise will be around £2.5m.
We are looking forward to finally taking control of the Twemlows solar farm, this will increase the community benefit arising from the solar farm and enable STCE to go on and set up further new schemes.
Twemlows Community Benefit Fund 2023
We have recently allocated £11,250 across four great projects for the Festival Centre, Market Drayton (PV panels), St Alkmunds Whitchurch, (PV panels), the United Reform Church Shrewsbury (Secondary glazing) and Longnor Parish Hall, south of Shrewsbury (loft insulation). In addition Community Resource have allocated £1k to Harmer Hill Village Hall from their local community projects pot. Bishops Castle Heat & Wind project
A pre-planning application for the wind turbine has been submitted to Shropshire Council. The results of this will determine whether we proceed to a full application and for which of the two sites, and inform us as to what further studies are needed. The heat network report prepared by Sharenergy and Carbon Alternatives should be made public soon, it shows that a heat network could be viable but if it is based on heat pumps then having a cheaper supply of electricity from the wind turbine would be essential.
Big Solar Co-op
We are continuing to work with Kevin Oubridge of the Big Solar Co-op to deliver new rooftop solar schemes across Shropshire and Telford. Big Solar recently raised £840k in their first share offer and one of their first installations should be in Shropshire (just).
