The Twemlows Solar farm share scheme offer has met its minimum target and the share offer is now closed. We raised a total of £294k. This has enabled us to carry out the purchase of Twemlows. We are planning a second share offer to pay off some of our loans, but probably not till 2025.
Shropshire and Telford Community Energy is part of the Community Energy Together group. Community Energy Together (CET) is a group of Community Benefit Societies in the UK. Together, we believe in the power of community energy to generate returns for people
and the planet.
Our communities have bought seven operational solar farms with a total generation capacity of around 36MWp. The solar farms will collectively save an estimated 317,000t CO2 over their lifetimes, and supply the equivalent of 12,745 homes. Any profits made will be invested back into local community projects, providing long term benefits for all.
Collectively these solar farms have added 20% to the total of community owned solar in England and Wales. They will also generate around £20m of surplus funds, which will be used by each society to benefit their local communities.
